Guide
Know when your coding agent needs you.
Claude Code, Codex and Cursor run for minutes at a time, and then wait for you in a window you aren’t looking at. Ait shows their status in the MacBook notch, so you see it without switching windows.
What you see
- Needs approval. The moment an agent wants to run a command or edit a file, the island says so, ahead of everything else.
- What it’s doing. Thinking, Reading, Editing or Running Command, with the session time in the wing.
- Done. A short note when a turn finishes, then the island gets out of the way.
- Usage limits. Your 5-hour and weekly windows with their reset time, and how full a session’s context window is.
- Several sessions. Run as many as you like; the one that needs you comes first.
How to connect
- Download Ait and open it.
- Open Settings → Developer.
- Click Connect next to Claude Code, Codex or Cursor. Ait adds its hooks to the agent’s settings and keeps a backup of the original file.
Cursor reports working, done and stages through its documented hooks; it can’t show when it waits for approval.
What Ait doesn’t see
Only states, limits and the project folder reach Ait: no prompts, code, commands or credentials. Ait observes and never answers a permission prompt; you approve in the agent. It has no analytics and no account.
For your own scripts
Builds, tests and deploys can report to the island too, with the ait command-line tool: ait activity start build --title "Building", then update and finish.
